Free dental?
like lynn said, i would recommend calling around. either ask your own dentist if he would take on a pro bono case (good chance he will) or call a local dental school. i googled and there are several in your area. the other option is to call the dental assisting school. places like career colleges (the first to come to mind in my area is wester career college) does everything from free (or fee reduced) teeth cleaning, sealing, scaling, dental and nutritional counseling. i'm not sure if a dental assistant can pull teeth, but there is always a licensed dentist on staff at these places.
also, you can call the county health office. they often know of dentists who will do this, or at least accept payments or reduced fees.
you are a great friend for wanting to help out. that says a lot about you and your friendship!
Reply:You do not say what area you are from. There are clinics that are low-cost or free in some areas. It is usually based on your income. You might want to call a local dentist..they should know since they probably do some referring to these type of places. Also, some colleges have discounted or free dental "clinics" for their students to work on patients for school credit so you might want to check there and see if they have a dental program. Good Luck!
Reply:I see you are from Orlando. I am from Florida also.
I would suggest that your friend check to see if there is a teaching hospital in the area that has a dental clinic program where graduate students in denistry train. This is usually based on sliding scale to your income and even if your friend earns more than some, the cost would still be much less than going to a dentist's office. There is an excellent dental clinic at Shands, University of Florida in Gainesville. If he can't find one near him, check into it; I know its a ways to travel, but might be worth it. If it is an emergency, like a broken tooth or if you are in severe pain such as a tooth abcess, they will try to get you in right away.
