care for my treatment amounts to sight problems and possible dental problems do i get assistance to cover the costs like free prescriptions.
I have just been diagnosed with diabeties and told i get free prescriptions do i also get free dental and eye?
If you're in the UK, you will get free eyesight checks and dental checks ... assuming you can find a dentist that will take you on as a NHS patient. This doesn't mean that any treatment you get will be free though. You definitely won't get free spectacles, unless you are claiming Income Support. I'm afraid I'm not too sure about dental treatment. My dentist suddenly lost my files, and couldn't find any record of me having been registered with them.
My advice is that although you'll get free eyesight checks, you should also arrange to be seen at your local hospital as eyesight problems can be one of the damaging complications that diabetics are prone to.
According to the BMA (British Medical Association) diabetics who take any form of treatment, apart from diet only, are exempt from paying prescription charges. (He he. It seems that someone's Diabetes Specialist Nurse needs to do a bit of reading.)
Reply:No not unless you are on disability.
Reply:That depends whom you are getting medical assitance from, If its from the government, like medicaid, yes you should be covered. I do know that diabetes affects your vision, and your gums and teeth.
Reply:my diabetes nurse said u get ur prescriptions free if u have insulin but not tablets like metformin
Reply:In the US it all depends upon your insurance.
Reply:Never heard of such situation in the USA that you would
get free rx, dental and vision plans. However you can
save up to 80% with my simple card as a diabetic because
in addition to the plan for diabetic supplies, medical checkups and
hospitalization you do get a free dental, vision and prescription
plans.
Reply:yes u get free eye tests i no that for a fact and any close member of yr family does too ie mum dad nan gdad sis bro etc, the only thing im not sure about is wether u still av 2 pay 4 yr frames n lenses but the test is 100% free if you have diabeties
