Any ideas for a friend in need of sliding scale or free dental work? details below.?

My good friends teeth are rotting out of her head! She has no insurance, and very little resources. All dentists in our area want tons of money up front. There is no saving these teeth, she needs them all pulled and given a set of false teeth. I am worried because she keeps getting these horrible infections which can abscess and kill her! She is a wonderful person who is raising two children on her own and somehow doesn't qualify for ANY kind of aid! I wish I could pay for this, but that's not an option either. I was just wondering if anyone out there had some ideas of where to turn for help?

i agree with the dental shool but pick one that you know the trainees are not retarted at make sure they are not going to make her worse

I don't know where you live, so you might want to locate a participating provider at this website before you consider it. You can even call the dentists you want on the list to confirm they accept the plan.





Membership in the plan is about $12 a month for an individual and $20 a month for a household. There is also a $20 reg. fee upon signup. Membership entitles your friend to discounts up to 80% and they vary depending on the type of work she needs done. A sample fee schedule should be at the site.

Reply:I would try going to a dental clinic. Not sure what state you may live in, but most colleges with dental schools have clinics where you can have your work done at a much much much cheaper fee. There might be a waiting list - but its worth to give it a shot! Also some hospitals have dental clinics with dental residents that preform all dental work you would get done in a regular office.
